Meeting Held on Alternative Livelihoods for Farmers

The Counter Narcotics Deputy Ministry of the Ministry of Interior held a coordination meeting on alternative livelihoods for farmers within the framework of the Doha Process work plan.

The meeting was attended by the Civil Deputy of the Counter Narcotics Deputy Ministry, representatives from UNAMA, UNODC, UNDP, and relevant ministries.

Haji Mawlawi Abdul Rahman Qasemi, the Civil Deputy of the Counter Narcotics Deputy Ministry, described the promotion of alternative livelihoods as a vital responsibility and emphasized the need to take effective measures in this regard.

Officials from the United Nations, UNODC, and UNAMA also highlighted the importance of creating job opportunities for farmers, generating income, and supporting them. They further stressed the significance of public awareness and market development efforts in this field.

Representatives of various ministries shared their views and proposals with the participants.

At the conclusion of the meeting, participants expressed hope that practical steps would be taken toward implementing alternative livelihood initiatives to help address the farmers’ economic challenges.
