Al-Haj Sheikh Abdul Rahman Munir, the Deputy Minister for Counter-Narcotics of the Ministry of Interior, along with his accompanying delegation, participated and delivered remarks at the meeting of member states of the Regional Information and Counter-Narcotics Coordination Center for Central Asian Countries, held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

Mr. Munir discussed Afghanistan’s efforts and achievements in strengthening the fight against narcotics, stating that it is a great honor to attend such an important conference aimed at promoting joint cooperation and coordination against narcotics and chemical precursors.

The Deputy Counter-Narcotics Minister added that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, particularly the Counter-Narcotics Deputy Ministry of the Ministry of Interior, has adopted decisive measures to eliminate narcotics in the country. As a result of these efforts, poppy cultivation in Afghanistan has nearly reached zero.

He stressed: “We do not allow anyone to traffic, cultivate, transport, or sell narcotics. We maintain comprehensive cooperation with neighboring countries to prevent trafficking at the borders and expect the same from them.”

Al-Haj Sheikh Abdul Rahman Munir also called on international organizations to assist in providing alternative livelihoods for farmers and in treating drug addicts so that the fight against narcotics can proceed more quickly and effectively.
